NDIS In-Home Care in Hobart

Care Assure delivers NDIS in-home care across Greater Hobart. Personal care, cleaning and household tasks, meals and overnight support, delivered in your own home by teams based on both sides of the river.

NDIS In-Home Care in Hobart

In-Home NDIS Support Across Greater Hobart

Greater Hobart is compact but hilly and split by the river, and getting from Glenorchy to Rokeby at the wrong time of day is not a five-minute trip. Care Assure already operates supported homes in Glenorchy, Claremont, Rokeby, Kingston and Old Beach, which means we have staff living and working in those areas rather than sending someone across town. In-home support runs from the northern suburbs at Moonah, Derwent Park, Montrose and Berriedale, through the city and Sandy Bay and New Town, across to Bellerive, Howrah and Lauderdale on the eastern shore, and south to Kingston, Blackmans Bay and Margate.

How In-Home Care Is Funded

The funding is allocated to your Core Supports budget, split into two main categories. Assistance with Daily Life pays for personal care, cleaning and household tasks, and meal preparation. Assistance with Social and Community Participation pays for getting out, whether that is appointments, groups or the shops. High-intensity clinical supports are again funded separately, under High-Intensity Daily Personal Activities. Plans word these things inconsistently, so if yours is unclear, our team can read it with you and tell you plainly what it does and does not cover.

In-Home Care or SIL: Which One Do You Need?

The difference comes down to where the support lives. With in-home care, the support comes to your house for agreed-upon hours and then leaves. With Supported Independent Living, the support is already there, in a home set up for it, usually shared and often staffed 24 hours. Neither is better. They answer different questions. If your needs are manageable with a few visits a day, in-home care is almost always the better fit and the cheaper use of your plan. If they are not, SIL exists for a reason. Care Assure runs both in Greater Hobart.

NDIS Cleaning and Household Tasks

See the dedicated section below. Cleaning, laundry and household upkeep are the highest-demand in-home support services in the Hobart market, and we treat them accordingly.

Personal Care at Home

Showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence support in your own bathroom rather than a facility. Our workers are trained specifically for this and rostered for continuity, because being helped with personal care by a stranger every week is nobody's idea of dignity.

Meal Preparation and Mealtime Support

Help with shopping, planning, and cooking, and support at the table where needed. Where dysphagia or a texture-modified diet is involved, mealtime management is written and overseen by a registered nurse.

Community Access and Transport

Support to get to appointments, work, study, groups or the shops. Public transport across Greater Hobart is patchy outside the main corridors, so this is one of the more practically useful supports in a Hobart plan.

Overnight and Sleepover Support

Active overnight support for people who need assistance through the night, or a sleepover where the need is reassurance and occasional help. We will help you work out which one your plan actually funds before you commit to it.

Medication Support

Prompting through to administration, depending on your plan and care plan. Anything beyond prompting falls under the registered nurse's care plan.

Social Support and Companionship

Company, conversation and support to stay connected to whatever you were connected to before. Small service, disproportionate effect.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What does NDIS in-home care cover in Hobart?

It covers personal care, household tasks and cleaning, meal preparation, medication support, community access and transport, social support, and overnight assistance. Which of these does your plan fund depend on your Core Supports budget?

Does Care Assure provide NDIS cleaning services in Hobart?

Yes. Cleaning, laundry and general household tasks are funded under Assistance with Daily Life in your Core Supports budget. We deliver these across north, south and west Hobart and the wider Greater Hobart area.

Which Hobart suburbs do you cover?

We cover Greater Hobart, including Glenorchy, Moonah, Claremont, Sandy Bay, New Town, Bellerive, Howrah, Rokeby, Kingston, Blackmans Bay, Old Beach and Bridgewater.

Is Care Assure a registered NDIS provider?

Yes. We are audited against the NDIS Practice Standards and regulated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and we already meet the SIL Practice Standards, taking effect 1 July 2026.

Can I have the same support worker each visit?

That is what we aim for, and it is why we staff by area rather than dispatching centrally. Continuity matters more than almost anything else in in-home support.

What is the difference between in-home care and SIL?

In-home care supports you in your own home, with workers visiting for set hours. SIL is for people living in a shared or supported home, usually with much higher support needs and often 24-hour staffing.
