NDIS In-Home Care Across South Australia and Tasmania
Care Assure provides in-home care to NDIS participants across South Australia and Tasmania. Most of these supports are funded under Assistance with Daily Life, the Core Supports category that covers the everyday tasks a disability makes harder: showering and dressing, keeping the house running, cooking, and getting out the door.
We are a registered NDIS provider, which means we are audited against the NDIS Practice Standards rather than self-declaring competence. Our support workers hold current NDIS Worker Screening Checks, and where a participant needs clinical support at home, a registered nurse writes and oversees the care plan. Same organisation, same team, no handover.
Our In-Home Care Services
Our support workers deliver assistance across the full range of everyday living needs. What you receive depends on what your NDIS plan funds, and we will tell you honestly if it does not stretch to something.
Personal Care
Showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence support, delivered with dignity.
Domestic Assistance
Cleaning, laundry, linen changes, dishes and general household upkeep.
Meal Preparation
Shopping, cooking and mealtime support, including texture-modified meals where needed.
Medication Support
Prompting through to administration, depending on your plan and care plan.
Overnight Sleepover Support
A worker sleeps on site and is available if you need help overnight.
Active Overnight Support
Awake overnight support where assistance is needed at regular intervals through the night.
On-Call Overnight Monitoring
Remote monitoring with a worker available to attend when you need reassurance.

Support to reach appointments, work, study, groups and the shops.

What Does the NDIS Fund Under Assistance with Daily Life?
In-home care is not one line item. It is a group of them, and knowing which one applies is the difference between a plan that stretches and one that runs out in March.
Assistance with Daily Life is Support Category 1 in your Core Supports budget, under registration group 0107, Daily Personal Activities. The two line items most participants use are Assistance with Self-Care Activities for hands-on personal care and Assistance with Personal Domestic Activities for cleaning and household tasks. Time-based rates apply, so evening, weekend, and public holiday support are claimed under different codes than weekday daytime.
Overnight support is where plans most often go wrong. Night-Time Sleepover Support covers a worker sleeping on site and includes up to two hours of active support. If you regularly need more, active overnight support is the right item. On-Call Overnight Monitoring suits participants who need someone reachable rather than present.
Price limits also run higher in regional and remote areas, which changes how far your plan goes. Ask any provider how that applies to your hours. If the answer is vague, keep looking.
How NDIS In-Home Care Is Funded
In-home care is funded through your Core Supports budget, the most flexible part of your plan. Two categories do most of the work, and clinical supports sit under a third.
Assistance with Daily Life
Pays for personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation and overnight support. This is the largest slice of most in-home care budgets. Because Core Supports funding is generally flexible, hours can usually be moved between these supports as your needs shift, unless your plan states otherwise.
Assistance with Social and Community Participation
Pays for support to get out of the house: appointments, work, study, groups, shopping and social activities, including transport where your plan funds it. Separate from daily life funding, so running low on one does not automatically mean running low on the other.
Clinical supports delivered at home, such as catheter care or enteral feeding, are funded under High Intensity Daily Personal Activities and require oversight by a registered nurse. Your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm which categories you hold and how much remains in each.
Where Care Assure Delivers In-Home Care
We deliver in-home care in two states, and we would rather say so plainly than imply national coverage we do not have.
- South Australia: Adelaide and the metropolitan area, from the northern suburbs around Salisbury and Elizabeth through to Marion, Christies Beach and Reynella in the south, plus Mount Gambier, Mount Barker, Port Augusta and Whyalla.
- Tasmania: Greater Hobart, including Glenorchy, Moonah, Claremont, Rokeby, Kingston, Old Beach and Bridgewater, plus Launceston and northern Tasmania, where we already operate supported homes.
- In supported housing too: In-home care is also delivered inside our Supported Independent Living homes and in Care Casa SDA housing, by the same teams under the same standards.
We roster by area rather than dispatch from a single central point. It is the reason we can commit to the same worker turning up rather than whoever happened to be free that morning, and the reason travel time does not quietly eat into the hours your plan funded.
Who Can Access NDIS In-Home Care?
Our personal care support workers ensure you are always in good condition. Therefore, we provide support during showers, cleaning, dressing, and personal hygiene.
- You need help with showering, dressing, grooming or toileting
- Cleaning, laundry or dishes have become difficult to manage
- You need support with shopping, cooking or eating safely
- You need someone available overnight, awake or sleeping on site
- Getting to appointments, work, study or the community is a barrier
- You want to build daily living skills rather than rely on support
- You need clinical support at home, such as wound, catheter or stoma care
- You are coming home from the hospital and need support in place before you arrive
You do not need to know which line item applies before you call. That is our job. If your plan does not cover what you need, we can explain the evidence that supports a plan review.

- What is NDIS in-home care?
In-home care is disability support delivered where you live rather than in a facility. Under the NDIS it covers personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation, medication support, overnight assistance, community access and in-home nursing. Most of it is funded under Assistance with Daily Life in your Core Supports budget.
- What in-home care services does Care Assure provide?
Personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation, medication support, sleepover and active overnight support, on-call overnight monitoring, community access and transport, social support, daily living skills and in-home nursing care.
- Is NDIS in-home care the same as a Home Care Package?
No. Home Care Packages are aged care funding administered through My Aged Care, with different eligibility criteria and an assessment process. The NDIS funds disability support. If you are over 65 and not already an NDIS participant, aged care is generally the right pathway, and we will tell you so rather than take an enquiry we cannot help with.
- Can I have both a Home Care Package and NDIS funding?
Generally not for the same supports. Participants who entered the NDIS before turning 65 can remain in it, but they cannot be funded twice for the same service. Your plan manager or an aged care assessor can confirm which scheme applies to your situation.
- What is the difference between a sleepover and active overnight support?
Sleepover support means a worker sleeps on-site and is available if needed, including a limited amount of active support during the night. Active overnight support means the worker stays awake because assistance is needed at regular intervals. They are separate line items funded at different rates, and booking the wrong one is a common and expensive mistake.
- Does Care Assure provide nursing care at home?
Yes. Clinical supports at home are delivered under a care plan written by a registered nurse, who also assesses support worker competency for the specific supports you need. This covers wound care, catheter and stoma care, and other high-intensity supports funded under High Intensity Daily Personal Activities.
- How many hours of in-home care can I get?
That depends on what your plan funds. Core Supports funding is generally flexible, so hours can often be moved between personal care, domestic assistance and community access as your needs change. Our team can review your budget with you at no cost.
- Do you deliver in-home care in regional areas?
Yes. We support participants in Mount Gambier, Mount Barker, Port Augusta, and Whyalla in South Australia, as well as across northern Tasmania. Price limits are higher in regional and remote areas, which affects how many hours your plan funds. We will explain how that applies to you before you commit to anything.
